Glass has been hand blown in Bristol since the 17th century and since the first foundry was established the city has grown to become a centre of excellence for coloured glass.
Each piece is freely hand blown and fashioned to produce the finest most distinctive and original glass and it is this attention to detail that has made it highly collectable for over 200 years. Each piece is unique and comes hand engraved with the recognised trademark signature ‘Bristol’.
The rich hue of the Ruby Glass we stock is achieved by adding gold to molton glass - an expensive but powerful agent. When Ruby Glass was first made in Bristol in the late 19th Century it became very fashionable adorning most elegant houses. Its popularity today is unabated.
